The Mystery Wood

This assignment got a lot of attention last semester and I bet you could see why. What was required of this project was to make a one page comic that had a hook at the end. However, the story had to revolve around one of the provided themes which were hunger, anger, mystery and love. The possibilities were endless. I had a difficult time deciding of what I wanted to draw.

In the end, I chose to solve  'The Mystery behind Morning Wood'.

I don't recall how I came up with this idea but I knew I wanted to draw something hilarious and so weird that it would leave the viewer confused of what they just saw. When I presented this comic in class, I got the reaction I desired from my classmates. They were laughing at the absurdity of the piece and they all asked what the little creatures were and what they were doing. I explained that these critters come at night to worship the penis and when they do, it erects and stands tall like a mystical tree.

Bon Anniversaire

This piece in particular is based off a song called Cake Dance: play song here

Once you open the link, it'll lead you to an animation by sambakza called "There She Is".
Just like my art, I enjoy songs that are weird and quirky. It just gets my day going and
leaves me optimistic when I hear a fast paced, jumpy and fun song.

Anyway, I don't want the context of the original animation to distract you from
comparing the song and illustration together. Just leave it open at the side and see
if my illustration successfully brings out the vibe from the song.

Let me know what you think.

Follow Me

This illustration is based off a song from Arakawa Under the Bridge Opening 2: link
When this was drawn, I never understood the true meaning behind the song because it
was in Japanese. Since the music was very jumpy and flirty, I felt that this scene was
appropriate and matched the song well.

Looking Back

Hey everybody! It's been a while. I've been pretty busy lately
so I'll just be posting some old work for now! Last semester, I had this
comic assignment based on something significant that happened in my life.
For instance, moving to Canada and how different my life is now.
